A Mighty Pale Horse
I finished On a Pale Horse by Piers Anthony. It sucked. I might have enjoyed it more if I were twelve years old. The simplistic way this book looks at death, and the convoluted mechanics of the afterlife and the harvesting and analysis of souls to determine their disposition in the afterlife did nothing to entertain. It was tedious.

Angelina Jolie’s new movie A Mighty Heart hasn’t gone over well. No kidding. I really don’t want to see a movie about the wife of a guy who gets his head cut off. What’s next? A movie about Natalie Holloway’s parents? Whoo boy, where do I get tickets? How about a movie about the husband of that lady who drowned her kids in her car? Or the neighbor of the husband of the lady who hanged herself and her kids. Hmm . . what other depressing crap can they use as subject matter for lame-ass movies?

Well, that’s my bitch-fest for the evening. I hope you and yours have a good week. Tune in next time for more thrilling analysis of current events from danmanning.com

lawsuit!
Police confirmed that a girl's feet have been cut off at Six Flags' Kentucky Kingdom.Officials said they got the call around 5 p.m. Thursday and both her feet were detached at the ankle.According to MetroSafe dispatch supervisors, the girl was riding the Superman Tower of Power, which is 177 feet tall and drops riders at 54 miles per hour. According to Kentucky Kingdom, the girl was injured when the ride malfunctioned. Dispatchers said she was taken to University Hospital.

I found a video of the ride, and I can't see how that could have happened. Weird.

book review, Lolita
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, (1955)

A book about a pedophile obsessed with fucking twelve-year-old girls. I got half-way through. The first half was about him trying to get the girl, actually marrying Lolita's mother in order to get near the girl. That part was okay. But once he got the girl, well, it got boring after that. No, there weren't any sex scenes, but it was depressing enough as it is. While it was well written, the last half really sucked ass as it becomes a dismal tour of American tourist traps and motels.

EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ROBOTS
So,

This group of bible-thumping bigots went to some university and had pictures of aborted fetuses, and signs like, "JESUS OR HELL.", you know, the usual crap.

So this guy thought he'd lighten things up. He made a sign that said "EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ROBOTS".

And of course, in a free society, the only thing that could happen happened. The Jesus-Freak-Hate-Mongers were protected by police. The guy with the "EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ROBOTS" sign was arrested.

Free speech. I love it.

When will the machines rise and save us from ourselves?

Lennon's Last Words
Yoko breaks silence to reveal Lennon's last words
By Andrew Johnson
Published: 10 June 2007

For 40 years Yoko Ono has kept a silent dignity in the face of global vilification meted out by legions of Beatles fans.

But today, in an emotional interview, she reveals the last words her husband John Lennon uttered moments before he was gunned down on a New York street in 1980 by Mark Chapman.

"I said 'shall we go and have dinner before we go home?' and John said 'No, let's go home because I want to see Sean before he goes to sleep'," Ono, 73, told Kirsty Young on 'Desert Island Discs'.

Young then asked Ono if Lennon had said anything after he was shot, to which she replied in almost a whisper: "No."

Ono, a conceptual artist, admitted that she would never be more than "the wife of an ex-Beatle".

Choosing Edith Piaf's "Je Ne Regrette Rien" as one of her discs, she added: "I regret nothing, too."

Mojito
Today I spent the morning fixing many things at a new business customer. It went well. I don’t know if you’ve seen those Bacardi mojito recipe commercials, where everybody’s real cool and everything, and there are lots of hot women dancing around all sexy-like. Anyhoo, I made one of those drinks, and they are pretty tasty. A forbidden Lambada style dance party didn’t erupt in my house, but it is a cool drink on a hot day.

Otherwise, I have nothing to report.

Oh, did you see this?

many ha ha for you
hi everybody!

it's me, danmanning. Just stumbled across something somewhat funny on the Internets. go to YouTube.com and type in "Alpo Ferguson". I found the spoof political ads somewhat humorous. these videos meet or exceed expectations. try it yourself. aren't the Internets a hoot?

i would have forwarded the links to you in an email, but I know how much you hate that. In fact, I have a sneaking suspicion you've been deleting all my funny FW: emails.

have a nice weekend.

your friend,

dan.
